'뉴-빌리지'는 실재하는 공간 위에 가상의 서사를 덧씌운다. 거대한 델타 지역에 스마트시티가 건설 중이며, 아직 완공되지도 않은 이 도시에 먼저 기묘한 시뮬레이션 마을이 들어선다. '델타 패밀리'는 치열한 경쟁을 뚫고 이 시뮬레이션 빌리지에 입주하게 된다.
한편, 소금기를 머금은 델타의 토양에서 한때 유망 작물로 주목받았던 짭짤한 토마토는 가장 가축화된 작물로서의 본성을 유감없이 드러내며, 도시의 변화에 따라 ‘토마토 신경망’과 같은 존재로 변이된다.
이 작업은 증강된 토마토의 알레고리를 시뮬레이션 마을과 이 도시의 스마티즘 위로 중첩시킴으로써, 이를 통해 미래의 기술적 희망과 건설적 비전으로 괴롭혀지는 삼각주의 위태로운 장소를 이야기한다.
This work overlays a fictional narrative onto a real geographical site. In a vast delta region where a smart city is under construction, a peculiar simulation village emerges even before the city itself is completed. Selected through a fiercely competitive process, the “Delta Family” becomes its first inhabitant, living inside a prototype of a future yet to arrive.
At the same time, the delta’s saline soil—once ideal for cultivating a local crop known as the ㄴsalty sweet tomato—triggers an uncanny transformation. The tomato, perhaps the most domesticated of plants, begins to mutate in alignment with the city’s shifting logic, evolving into something resembling a “Tomato Neural Network.”
This work overlays the allegory of the augmented tomato onto a simulation village and the city’s smartism, telling the story of a fragile delta landscape strained and unsettled by future-oriented technological hopes and grand visions of development.
