잠재된 자연

군사 기지화 되어 있는 최북단의 섬에서 30여 종류의 중국산 페트병을 수거했다. 경계를 넘어 바다를 타고 넘어 들어온 중국산 페트병에 인쇄된  비현실적 이미지를 보며, 이 섬에 잠재되어 있을 여러가지 지정학적 풍경을 이미지 생성 AI를 통해 드러낸다.

 

섬에서 촬영한 풍경 사진, 고전적 산수화 이미지, 페트병 라벨, 작업 <총잡이 개>의 배경을 위해 게임엔진으로 만들어진 2차 세계대전 풍의 섬 이미지가 기계학습을 위한 데이터셋으로 사용되었다. 이 데이터들은 이미지 생성 인공지능인 GAN(생성적 적대 신경망)을 활용하며 또 다른 잠재된 자연 이미지로 표현된다.

At the northernmost island, which is a military base, more than 30 kinds of Chinese-made PET bottles were collected. By looking at the unrealistic (nature) images printed on the Chinese PET bottles that came across the sea, various latent geographical landscapes were revealed through image generation AI. The scenery photos taken on the island, classical Chinese paintings, PET bottle labels were used as a dataset for machine learning. These data are represented as another latent nature image through image generation AI.
